YouTube adding election panel stating 'results may not be final' to curb misinformation
YouTube will add an information panel to search queries related to the election noting "results may not be final" along with a link to the latest tally of the 2020 vote.
The video platform is among several social media and internet platforms introducing new features ahead of the election to thwart the spread of misinformation about the election.
In a blog post, YouTube said the panel noting results aren't final will link to Google's election results feature, part of a collaboration with The Associated Press.
"Fast-moving events, like elections, may produce unverified claims, which can then lead to uncertainty," said YouTube in its blog post. "Providing viewers with accurate information is critical in moments like this."

YouTube said it will also prominently display links on how and where to vote leading up to the election, as well as elevate "authoritative sources" on election news in search results.
Internet platforms have pushed to add new features ahead of the elections to ease concerns misinformation about results could rapidly. On Monday, Twitter said it started adding messages to preemptively debunk misinformation about the election, such as the safety and security of voting by mail.
