YouTube death threat against Quebec premier yields arrest

Maxime Brown, 25, was charged Monday with uttering death threats against Quebec Premier Jean Charest, after a video was posted on YouTube by someone who called himself "Max Cube."

The video, since taken down, shows a man brandishing a sword and screaming in French, to a musical back beat: "Charest! I'm going to shred him into pieces!"

Elsewhere, the man threatens to go to the premier's manor and kill his children.

The Montreal man was released on bail, under a number of conditions.

He was ordered not to be within 200 metres of the premier and forbidden from recording videos.

Provincial police officers arrested Brown at his home Monday morning and searched the home to gather evidence.

Ingrid Asselin of Quebec provincial police said the force is taking all threats posted on social media seriously.
