New Zealand Navy Carries Out Contactless Refuelling of Tongan Vessel During Aid Mission

A New Zealand Naval ship refuelled a Tongan patrol boat during its humanitarian aid to the island, footage shared by the NZ Defence Force showed.

HMNZS Aotearoa has been replenishing ships with fuel, aiding Tongan Navy vessels involved in distributing aid and fresh water, NZ Defence Force said.

The Aotearoa, which has been in Tonga for over a week, has provided more than 415,000 litres of fresh drinking water to communities in the island nation, the defence force said.

NZ Defence Force said the offloading of supplies, water delivery and replenishment of vessels were carried out without making physical contact with people in Tonga due to COVID-19 protocols. Credit: NZ Defence Force via Storyful
