Hollywood To You/Star Max
Only Zendaya could make desert alien princess dressing look so right on the red carpet. She’s certainly been doing her stylist Law Roach proud on the Dune 2 press tour. The actor—who plays Chani in the second installment of director Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi blockbuster—has been telegraphing her character’s otherworldly warrior vibe with looks that mix muted colors with unusual shapes and textures.
For a cast appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, for instance, the Euphoria star kicked things off with a black leather set from the Attico’s spring 2024 collection. She looked like a Charlie’s Angel sent from the year 3000 in this collarless shirt jacket, which was left strategically unbuttoned to reveal her midriff. Aiding the cause was a pair of slouchy low-rise pants that bunched below the knees, black Christian Louboutin heels, and Bulgari earrings.
For a photo call in Mexico City, Zendaya tapped emerging London designer Torishéju Dumi for a custom gown inspired by a look from the label’s spring-summer 2024 presentation. Blue, navy, gray, and red fabrics were artfully draped to create the finished result: a twisted halter-neck crop top and a draped skirt with a daring slit and sculptural rosettes at the hip.
Zendaya’s latest coup may be her best yet. Designed for the film’s Mexico City premiere, this custom Bottega Veneta two-piece ensemble is an iteration of a look designer Matthieu Blazy sent down the fall 2023 runway.
Underboob was clearly the watchword when this brown wool turtleneck crop top with a curved hem was made. A wide swath of her stomach is visible, too, above her high-waist ostrich-skin and wool skirt with a thigh-high slit. Delicate diamond jewelry, including an ankle bracelet, and matching satin pointed-toe heels finish the look without distracting from it.
