WINGHAM – North Huron council approved a zoning bylaw change to allow Pharmasave to move its operations from its downtown address to the plaza at 40 Josephine St.
The previous zoning was C3-1 (Highway Commercial Special Zone), now C3 Special Zone to permit additional pharmacy use.
Huron County Planner Hannah Homan presented the results of a mandatory market study to council on Monday evening.
“At their Dec. 2, 2022 council meeting, the Township of North Huron Council provided direction to approve a Terms of Reference for a market study as prepared by the Township’s peer review consultant,” Homan’s report said. “This study has since been completed by the applicant’s consultant and has been peer-reviewed. The results of the peer review concluded that the proposed rezoning is justified from a market basis. This North Huron OP policy has been met.”
The new location for the pharmacy is proposed to increase the square footage of the existing site, which is 2,500 square feet, to 4,100 square feet at the new location.
There were no public comments or complaints registered.
Homan’s report said no concerns were received from township staff, county public works, or Maitland Valley Conservation Authority at the time of report submission.
