Alberta unveils new 'Support our Troops' licence plates

Alberta unveils new 'Support our Troops' licence plates.

Alberta is unveiling a new licence plate to honour Canadian troops.

The new plates, which will be available to pre-order early next year, say “Support our Troops” and bear the symbolic yellow ribbon design.

The province says the new licence plates are designed to complement the current veterans’ plates, which bear a poppy in honour of former and currently serving members of the Canadian Forces.

The total cost to get one of the yellow ribbon licence plates is $150, with revenue from the sale of the plates to go directly to the Support our Troops campaign to help members of the Forces and their families in Alberta.

“Our troops are proud of their service to Canada and appreciate the recognition from Albertans,” said Brigadier-General Christian Juneau, 3rd Canadian Division Commander, the Army in the West in a release on Saturday.

“I know they will be honoured when they see these licence plates on the vehicles of Albertans and the proceeds will help provide essential support to those who need it.”
