Boy takes parents’ life savings hidden in couch to buy candy

The nine-year-old Ukrainian boy may be a thief, but he's good at sharing.

A couch may seem like a safe place to store your savings, unless your kid finds it.

A Ukrainian couple had all of their live savings, about $3,300 in U.S. cash and about 500 Euros hidden in their couch. That was until their 9-year-old boy found it and spent it all on candy.

"The disappearance was first spotted by the father, a shift worker who had just returned home," said Tatyana Kushnerova of the local police department, to RIA. "He opened the stash and saw that it was empty."

The son admitted taking the money after an argument. He took the money at different times during his autumn school break. Then with the help of an adult acquaintance, converted it to Ukrainian hryvnas and blew the whole wad on sweets.

While the boy may have missed the lesson in not stealing, he does know about sharing. The Russian outlet reports because he was unable to eat all the candy himself, he shared it with his friends.

Those friends must have felt like it was Halloween every day for a while.

Of course, this begs the question: What kind of candy?

The other issue is if the kid stole all the money, his parents probably won't be able to pay the sizable dentist bill that may be coming!
