How cold is it? People post proof of the bitter temperatures online, but it does little to warm us up

It's cold out. Really, really cold.

Northern Ontario resident Chris Gillett wanted to show off what 40-below temperatures can do. Instead of hurling a cup of boiling water into the air to watch it freeze — watch that chilly trick here — the South Porcupine man decided to blast water into the air using a pressurized water gun.

The result? Watch below.

Across the border in Green Bay, Wisconsin, football fans braved a -15 C freeze — far worse if you accounted for wind chill — but found it difficult to consume their favourite "cold ones."

Their beer froze.

(Don't worry. They found a way to thaw the beer: they grilled it.)

In Ottawa, a woman made ice cream in her driveway.

A teacher in Chicago shared a photo with CNN of a stiff-as-a-board frozen T-shirt he had left outside for just five minutes yesterday.

A building in Nebraska froze over after firefighters put out a fire.

Even the National Weather Service contributed to the countless "How cold is it?" photos and videos being posted online this week.
