A scooter driver in Vancouver wearing a helmet camera has captured footage of a city bus hitting him as he turned left at an intersection.

Mark Jarder's first-person footage shows the urgent moment he turns in front of the bus as it honks loudly and hits the side of his scooter, launching him forward onto the pavement.

Jarder told the Vancouver Sun that he bought a helmet camera to document just such an incident, should it happen, because he felt drivers in Vancouver were hostile toward scooter riders, motorcyclists and cyclists.

The day after he bought the camera, the bus hit him, according to the story.

He posted the footage to YouTube and documented his care and follow up on Twitter and Facebook. In the video description on his account, Jarder wrote that he thinks the bus drove through a red light.

Jarder also posted that his injuries included road rash and sharp pain in his abdomen. He added that he would be speaking to a lawyer. In a comment on that post, Jarder responded to comments that he deliberately drove in front of the bus to prove a point.

"Contrary to public opinion and messages I've been receiving, I didn't "try" to go mano y mano with a 99 B-Line bus full of people," he wrote.

The regional transit authority, TransLink, said it would investigate the incident, according to the Vancouver Sun.

Meanwhile, Jarder posted that the impact destroyed his scooter.

It looks like he'll be riding the bus.
