Tasul the polar bear gives her point of view for climate change researchers

Tasul the polar bear has taken on the role of scientific researcher at the Oregon Zoo, giving curators and scientists her point of view for their study of how polar bears are responding to climate change.

Amy Cutting, one of the zoo's curators, explains how Tasul is helping in this video:

"Our research shows that polar bears are being displaced from sea ice habitats they formerly used," said Anthony Pagano, the US Geological Survey wildlife biologist who is leading the study, according to an Oregon Zoo statement. "This collaborative project with the Oregon Zoo will help us understand the implications between going to land or staying with the ice as it retreats hundreds of kilometers north into the Arctic Basin."

Bears should always be treated with caution in the wild, or course, but it's fascinating to watch them in action. Check out this rather curious polar bear, as it plays out 'Who watches the watchers': Curious Polar Bear.

Live streaming cameras show off their behavious best, though.
