Grandma Dorothy flies ‘over the rainbow’

Dorothy Ellis, 92, had one dying wish: to fly over her Kansas home in a motorized parachute.

The daredevil granny got her wish — and her adventure was posted by her granddaughter, Holly Ellis, on YouTube.

"About 6 weeks before she died, my grandma surprised us with a wish: to fly over her Kansas home in one of the powered parachutes she'd seen in the sky. With help from her hospice nurse, my mom made it happen. My uncle was there with his camera to capture the moment," Holly wrote.

Holly edited the footage of her grandmother's flight and set it to Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole's sweet rendition of "Over the Rainbow."

"When you have a grandma named Dorothy from Kansas, it's kind of an obvious choice," Ellis told the Huffington Post.

Dorothy Ellis passed away less than two months later, on November 2, 2012.
