Millionaire custodian uses lottery winnings to buy school new track

Ten years ago, Evergreen High School custodian and track coach Tyrone Curry told himself that if he ever won the lottery, he'd buy his team a new track.

Thanks to a $3.4 million windfall five years ago, he's now doing just that.

Earlier this month, Curry presented the school district with a $40,000 cheque to be dedicated to that new track.

After Curry's lottery win, he stayed on at Washington state's Evergreen High School, cleaning and coaching as he always had.

"I just like staying busy," Curry told MSNBC. "I know my wife says, 'Oh, you don't really have to work' and I say, 'Yeah. I do.' "

Curry will retire this June, but after 34 years of service, he still won't stay away. He plans to run for the school board and will be sure to return to see the new track in use.
