Brett Kissel leads 2014 CCMA Awards nominations

Superstar Brett Kissel will be up for eight 2014 Canadian Country Music Association Awards this Sept. 7 at a star-studded show hosted by CBC's Rick Mercer and Canada's beloved singer-songwriter Jann Arden.

Canadian country music's biggest night is returning to Edmonton this year broadcast live on CBC Television at 8 p.m. local time, 8:30 in Newfoundland in Labrador.

The CCMA released the full list of nominees Wednesday, with Kissell leading the pack with nods in eight categories including Single of the Year for his party anthem Started with a Song. Dean Brody and last year's big winner, Gord Bamford, are close on his heels with six and five nominations each, respectively. They'll also be going head-to-head for the coveted Fans' Choice Award.
