Calgary Zoo takes 2nd place in Canada's best washroom contest

The Calgary Zoo's safari-themed washroom took second place in a contest aimed at finding the best washrooms in Canada.

The washroom in Destination Africa was the second most popular in the online contest.

"We've never had a zoo so talked about before. The fact that a zoo washroom is that clean is impressive. They see so much traffic during the day, and they take the time to make sure it's always clean and inviting," said survey editor Rachael Keshishian in a statement.

"It really is part of the African safari that people come to the zoo to see. It's part of the overall experience the customers have when they visit the zoo to see the animals. A visit to the washroom feels like you're still on the adventure."

The first place winner was the Shaw Club Hotel and Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.

The contest was sponsored by Cintas Canada Ltd., which gave the winner $2,500 in free services.
