Father accused of leaving kids home alone so he could play pool

A 33-year-old Barrie man returned home to find his kids were safe and sound last night, immediately before he was arrested by officers who were trying to determine who was responsible for his children.

Police say they were called to a house on Saturday night, where they found a four-year-old and a seven-year-old child who had been left home alone.

As officers tried to find an adult, the children's father arrived at the home in a vehicle.

The father told police he had gone to play pool and left his children unattended.

The man had allegedly been drinking while he had been playing pool and police then charged him with an impaired driving-related offence.

He was also charged with failing to provide the necessities of life.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
