Fire at downtown St. John's spa temporarily closes business

Fire officials reported no injuries following a minor fire at a business on Queen's Road in St. John's early Saturday morning.

Supt. Robert Fowler of the St. John's Regional Fire Department said crews were called to Soothe Downtown Spa around 3:30 a.m., where there was a slight smell of smoke.

Fowler said the cause of the fire stemmed from an electrical heating unit, which sustained some charring.

The owner of the business was inside at the time, but escaped uninjured.

She said the spa will be closed until further notice.
