Former Parc Safari accountant sentenced to prison for fraud

A former accountant from Parc Safari has been sentenced to three years behind bars for fraud.

Ruth Eugène was found guilty of transferring funds from Parc Safari to an account controlled by her Montreal church.

CBC first broke the story of a controversial minister at Bethel Christian Community Church in Ahuntsic in 2010.

Several former parishioners at the church accused evangelical pastor Mwinda Lezoka of failing to pay back hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans.

During her trial, Eugène testified she was "indoctrinated" by Lezoka and under his sway when she transferred funds from Parc Safari to the church's account.

Lezoka, who is also facing fraud charges, is due in court in November.

He is also facing dozens of lawsuits from former parishioners.
