Halifax Lebanese fest turnout impressive

The Halifax Lebanese Festival had an impressive turnout this weekend, despite Saturday's steady rain.

Tony Nahas, who was in charge of food operations, said if food sales are any indication, attendance was up dramatically.

"I think it was a bigger turnout, and our setup is a bit different this year, I think we're more efficient, serving people faster and better," said Nahas.

"Our sales are up as well I think, between 60 to 80 per cent. It's our 10th anniversary, so it's gone really well."

Held at the Olympic Community Centre, the event featured everything from authentic Lebanese food to traditional dance performances and live music — including well-known Lebanese Canadian singer Karl Wolf.

Nahas said more of some food items had to be brought in for Sunday because supplies were running low.
