Man, 65, dies after rollover near Birch River

A 65-year-old man is dead after a rollover near Birch River, Man.

RCMP said seven people were riding in the pickup truck on Provincial Road 230 when the vehicle rolled just before midnight on Thursday.

The 65-year-old man, who had been riding in the box of the truck at the time, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 55-year-old man from Duck Bay, was rushed to a Winnipeg hospital in critical condition.

All other passengers were taken to a local hospital and have since been released.

RCMP believe alcohol was a factor in the rollover.

Birch River is about 200 kilometres northwest of Dauphin, MB.
