Melville woman dies following ATV-van collision on weekend

North Vancouver RCMP issue public warning after 2 women grabbed, groped

RCMP say a 25-year-old woman from Melville is dead following a collision Saturday evening on Highway 10, just south of the Melville highway bypass. Her name is not being released at this time.

The woman was driving a side-by-side ATV with a passenger on board. They were headed northbound and crossed the centre line, colliding with a southbound van.

According to witnesses, a dead deer was lying on the shoulder of the highway before the crash. RCMP believe it was a factor in what happened.

The ATV driver was pronounced dead in hospital in Regina.

Her passenger, a 33-year-old woman from Ituna, was taken to hospital in Regina with undetermined injuries.

RCMP also said evidence at this stage of the investigation suggests that neither seatbelts nor helmets were in use at the time of the accident. The ATV was equipped with seatbelts.

Two adult passengers in the van — both from Duff, Sask. — were taken to hospital in Melville with undetermined injuries, and have since been released.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist from Yorkton is continuing to investigate with Melville RCMP.
