Royal Winnipeg Ballet offers free shows at Assiniboine Park

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is serving up evenings of free performances at Assiniboine Park's Lyric Theatre.

The RWB's annual Ballet in the Park goes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with a 90-minute show each of those days.

The performances offer favourites from RWB's 2013 season and a preview of what's to come this year.

"The setting is rather casual, you can bring a lunch or a picnic and chat, run around. Children often start dancing on the grass while the dancers are doing their own show," said artistic director Andre Lewis.

"For me, it's about giving back to the community in a free setting and to say thank you. This is our 75th anniversary and certainly, we have much to be grateful from the support we've received from the community of Winnipeg."

The annual summer show attracts thousands of visitors and starts each evening at 7:30 p.m.
