Several arrested in Yellowknife 'drug den' raids

Northwest Territories police say they'll be releasing more information today about taking down several "drug dens" in Yellowknife.

Early Friday morning, RCMP executed several search warrants on a number of Yellowknife residences. Several people were arrested.

Police say they've identified an organized crime group operating out of the city.

RCMP Sergeant Barry Ledoux says they have yet to find out where those involved are from.

“We presently have several individuals in custody, our investigation is ongoing,” Ledoux said.

Ledoux says police seized a significant amount of marijuana, crack cocaine and other drugs.

RCMP also found cash, firearms and drug paraphernalia.
