St. John's area teacher suspended after misconduct claim

The Eastern School District has suspended a St. John's-area teacher following an allegation of inappropriate conduct involving a student.

The incident allegedly occurred Feb. 14., according to the Eastern School District, the province's largest school board.

The Eastern School district is working with the school involved as well as the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on the investigation.

The district is not releasing the nature of the allegation.

The teacher has been suspended with pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Parents have been notified and guidance counsellors are working with the student.
