Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer to screen Friday in 2 Canada theatres

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is so highly anticipated that fans are already making arrangements to be the first to see the trailer. In a bid to build buzz, and perhaps avoid a dreaded online leak, Disney and Lucasfilm are releasing the preview for the latest Star Wars movie Friday at select North American theatres.

The release, which coincides with the American Thanksgiving holiday, will hit only two Canadian theatres according to a list published on the movie's official website:

- The Yonge and Dundas Cineplex in Toronto

- The Riverport Cineplex in Vancouver

The 88-second teaser will play ahead of every movie from Friday until Sunday, with no clear indication of when the trailer will be released online.

Earlier this month, Lucasfilm confirmed that principal photography for the film was completed. The studio also revealed that Star Wars Episode VII would be called The Force Awakens, triggering an outpouring of jokes online.

The latest instalment in the Star Wars saga is set 30 years after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and features original Star Wars actors, including Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Organa and Harrison Ford as Han Solo.

The 72-year-old Ford made headlines earlier this year when he broke his ankle during filming, reportedly on the door of the Millennium Falcon spacecraft.
