'Travel not recommended' on many roads

Thanks to ice, snow and fog, highway conditions in many areas of Saskatchewan were deteriorating Tuesday morning.

The provincial highways department is not recommending travel on roads in most of the western part of the province, south of the Battlefords.

At 8 a.m. CST, driving conditions were generally poor on every highway from northwest of Saskatoon to the southwest corner.

The Highways Hotline is reporting zero visibility as well as icy sections on highway 16 northwest of Saskatoon, all the highways around Kindersley, Highway 7, Highway 21 and Highway 44.

Many routes west of Swift Current, including the Trans-Canada Highway, are also bad for drivers.

In fact, anything south of the Trans-Canada was also reporting zero visibility around 8 a.m., with blowing snow warnings out for the southwest.

Meanwhile, it's not just the highways that are in bad shape.

Wind, snow and ice were making things tough to get around in Saskatoon Tuesday morning as well.
