Woman, 40, Jailed For Having Sex With Boy, 12, Having His Child

An Australian woman has been jailed for six years for having sex with a 12-year-old boy and bearing his child.
The 40-year-old Melbourne mother - who cannot be named - was sentenced at the Victorian County Court on Monday.
She pleaded guilty to the persistent sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16, and will serve at least three years and six months of her sentence, as well as being placed on the sex offenders register for life.
The boy was originally a friend of the woman’s daughter, and they got to know one another when she gave him lifts to school.
She admits that she began to develop feelings for him, and their relationship became sexual in January 2013, when she was 36 and he was 12.
They had sex more than 20 times in total, and their daughter was born in May 2014, when the boy was 14.
The little girl is being looked after by the boy and his mother, who was unaware of what had been happening until after the baby was born.
When she and the boy’s father found out they involved the police, and insisted on a DNA test - which confirmed their son was the dad.
Judge Jane Patrick said to the woman: “You failed to recognise that your feelings for the boy were completely inappropriate. You commenced and continued an abusive sexual relationship.”
The boy’s mother said her whole family had been affected by what had gone on: “She has described how you have taken away his childhood and the difficulties he has had adjusting to fatherhood and what has happened to him,” the judge said.
The woman has three older children, and admitted to feeling guilty, ashamed and embarrassed by what she had done.
