1 dead after Richmond Hill crash

One woman is dead and two others are injured after a serious crash involving three vehicles in Vaughan early Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Pine Valley Drive and Highway 7, where the crash occurred, shortly after 6 a.m. Police say a pickup truck and two cars were involved.

The driver of one of the cars, a 49-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died. Police say a 22-year-old man and a 63-year-old man were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

York police's major collision investigation unit was at the scene to determine what happened.

"This accident is serious in nature," Staff Sgt. Andrew Graham, of the duty inspector's office for York Regional Police, said on Tuesday.

After closing several streets in the area of Pine Valley Drive and Highway 7 for the investigation, York Regional Police reopened roads late Tuesday morning. Investigators are asking any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision to contact them.
