P.E.I. weather alert lifted, but snow still likely Saturday

Although a special weather statement has been lifted for P.E.I. Saturday, there is still the potential for snow, says CBC meteorologist Peter Coade.

Coade says he would call Saturday's weather a "disturbance"

"I hesitate to call it a storm after what has happened on the Island this past winter."

Early Wednesday, with Environment Canada calling for "significant snowfall amounts in excess of 15 centimetres, social media was abuzz with Islanders saying they thought it was an April Fools' Day joke.

But it wasn't a joke.

In better news, Wednesday and Thursday this week will be sunny, says Coade, adding, "Temperatures however will remain below the normal for this time of year. Much milder weather is coming our way though."

Friday's high will be 6 C, but P.E.I. can expect rain.
