2 from P.E.I. dead in New Brunswick crash

A 60-year-old woman and and her 20-year-old grandson, both from Souris, Prince Edward Island, are dead following a crash in southeastern New Brunswick on Wednesday night.

Their car was travelling towards Moncton on Highway 15 in Grand-Barachois when it crossed the centre line, colliding with oncoming traffic, said RCMP Cpl. Denis Haché.

"It appears to be due to road conditions, said Haché.

"It had just started snowing and the roads were very slippery. That is what we are mostly looking at. And the witness of the other vehicle also spoke with the police and confirmed that the vehicle had lost control and crossed the centre line."

The victims died en route to the hospital, said Haché. Their names have not been released.

The driver of the oncoming vehicle, a 54-year-old woman from Cap-Pelé, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
