4 of the best outfits at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and 4 that missed the mark
Celebrities attended the annual iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday night.
Jennifer Hudson, SZA, and Beyoncé stood out with their stunning outfits.
But other stars, like Jared Leto and JoJo Siwa, failed to impress with their clothes at the event.
Tons of celebrities made their way to Los Angeles on Monday night for the annual iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Stars like Jennifer Hudson and SZA stood out on the red carpet in stunning gowns. And during the show, A-listers like Beyoncé graced the stage in memorable outfits.
But there were also a few celebrity ensembles that missed the mark. Here's a look at the best and worst looks attendees wore.
Katy Perry opted for a barely-there dress and thick accessories, but they didn't work together.
Her sleeveless, fishnet dress was entirely see-through and revealed her black bra and underwear beneath it. Only red satin bows held its fabric together down each side.
Though the dress was fun and edgy, it didn't pair well with her accessories.
Perry wore knee-high leather boots that were much thicker than her dress and wide sunglasses that hid most of her face. A pair of sandals and smaller glasses could have made all the difference.
Beyoncé looked powerful in a leather getup from Versace.
The "Cowboy Carter" musician was undoubtedly one of the night's best-dressed stars in black leather pieces adorned with gold hardware.
Her top was half unbuttoned, lined with fringe, and decorated with Versace buttons. She also wore bedazzled pants, which were belted at the waist and complemented her rhinestone cowgirl boots.
But she didn't stop there. Beyoncé also sported black sunglasses, a Versace monogrammed cowboy hat, and gold hoop earrings.
JoJo Siwa embraced her new persona on the red carpet, but it backfired.
After ditching her rainbow-sequined outfits and massive hair bows, Siwa has spent the past few years experimenting with more daring outfits. Unfortunately, her latest one missed the mark.
She attended the iHeartRadio Music Awards in a mesh bodysuit decorated with pearl and sequin patterns. The semi-sheer garment also had long sleeves lined with wing-like pieces and a deep neckline that reached her waist.
And that's not to mention her striking face makeup, which she wore around her eyes and mouth.
Though the outfit cleverly promoted her new single "Karma," it was also distracting on the red carpet and pushed her a step backward in her fashion journey.
Jennifer Hudson sparkled in silver.
Her Taller Marmo dress had a high neckline, three-quarter sleeves lined with gray feathers, and a midi skirt. But its standout feature was its sequin stripes, which extended down the dress from top to bottom.
Not only did Hudson look glamorous on the red carpet, but she also accessorized her look perfectly.
She sported silver pumps with thin straps, diamond rings, and statement earrings.
AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys kept things too casual.
He arrived wearing an asymmetrical yellow hoodie, a black T-shirt, brown cargo pants, and high-top sneakers worn without laces.
Though the outfit's neutral colors worked on him, they didn't stand out on the event's yellow carpet. And the intentionally messy look of his shoes distracted from his other pieces.
That said, McLean did nail his accessories. He wore orange-tinted glasses with diamond jewelry, perfectly meshing high-end fashion with cool streetwear.
Jelly Roll looked like a rockstar in diamonds and leather.
His outfit included a leather jacket with a quilted-style pattern, baggy black jeans, and brown-and-white sneakers from Nike.
Because his outfit was both classic and cool, it was the ultimate choice for the iHeart Radio Music Awards. And it looked even sharper when worn with his diamond necklace, bracelet, and sparkling watch.
Jared Leto's ensemble was almost too textured.
The bottom half of his outfit was sharp, including leather dress shoes and tailored dress pants with pleats down each leg.
But up top, the musician wore so many swaths of fabric that they overpowered him. He sported a white tank top underneath a high-necked mesh overlay, a black blazer on top of those pieces, and silver jewelry attached to his lapels.
Leto also donned mesh gloves decorated with black sequins.
SZA could have been mistaken for royalty in her vibrant gown.
Dundas designed her long-sleeved gown, which had a floor-length skirt with light pleats and a plunging neckline that reached her stomach.
She also wore layered necklaces to add some shine, glowing makeup that complemented her accessories, and her hair styled in voluminous waves.
