4 charged in Mathew Anthony Penney homicide

Four people from Dartmouth are facing charges in the death of Mathew Anthony Penney.

Penney's body was found burned on New Year's Day in Oakfield Provincial Park, near Enfield.

The following people have been charged:

Tyler Berry, 24, has been charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence, causing death by a firearm, indignant disposal of human remains and public mischief.

Jason Patrick MacKenzie, 27, is charged with manslaughter, accessory to manslaughter, accessory to criminal negligence causing death by firearm, indignant disposal of human remains and public mischief.

Keisha Slawter-Vassel, 24, has been charged with accessory to manslaughter, accessory to criminal negligence causing death by firearm, and public mischief.

Caitlin Fay Thompson, 23, has been charged with public mischief.

Police searched homes on Bras Dor Lane and Springhill Road in Dartmouth at around 8 a.m. Thursday. Two men aged 27 and 23, along with two women aged 24 and 23, were arrested without incident.
