5 weekend events in and around Vancouver July 3-5
It's looking to be another scorcher across Metro Vancouver this weekend. Whether you want to be out basking in the sunshine and warmth, or indoors somewhere cool, there are plenty of fun activities from which to choose.
Here are On the Coast's five picks happening in and and around Vancouver this weekend.
1. FIFA Women's World Cup Final
Team Canada may no longer be a contender, but the gold medal match between Japan and the United States is still expected to draw thousands of soccer fans to BC Place. Japan, the defending champion from the 2011 World Cup, also faced the U.S. last time, so it remains to be seen whether this rematch will see history repeat itself, or see the U.S. emerge victorious.

2. Vancouver Comic Con
Comic lovers unite this Sunday at Vancouver Comic Con. The annual event, taking place at Heritage Hall on Main Street, will feature guests including comics artist Doug Wheatley, who is the artist for a number of Star Wars comics, and James Stevenson, whose cartoons regularly appear in The New Yorker magazine.

3. FVDED in the Park
If you love R&B, hip hop or house, the inaugural FVDED in the Park promises to deliver. Headliners include producer and house artist Deadmau5, and Juno Award-winning artist The Weeknd. The event is expected to draw roughly 22,000 people to Holland Park in Surrey.

4. Tour the historic Orpheum
Each year, the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame takes visitors backstage to check out the hidden places and history of the Orpheum in Vancouver. The Orpheum is considered one of world renowned theatre architect Marcus Priteca's finest accomplishments, with interior design influenced by the Spanish Renaissance, Morocco, the Taj Mahal, Moorish arches and British heraldry. Tours are by donation.

5. Dancing on the Edge festival
Canada's longest running dance festival begins this weekend, featuring world renowned dance artists from around the country who will showcase contemporary dance. The festival runs for 10 days, and performances incorporate everything from live music to visual art to film.
