A 57-year-old Carleton, P.E.I., man is dead after falling out of an oyster dory in Summerside Harbour Saturday night.

RCMP believe the man was thrown from the boat after it collided with a channel marker. A second man who was in the boat attempted to rescue him and was able to bring him to shore.

The second man had called 911, police said. RCMP arrived at Holman's Wharf at about 9:45 p.m. Island EMS, Summerside police and Canadian Coast Guard officials were also on scene.

Police believe the dory struck a channel marker in Summerside Harbour.
