These 7 local brunch spots in Sacramento will open for Mother’s Day. Do I need a reservation?
Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and what better way to show the mom in your life how much they mean to you than with a meal out?
This year, the annual holiday is Sunday, May 12.
The Sacramento Bee has you covered with brunch spots in Sacramento, ranging from lush outdoor patios to restaurants with a view of the river. Here is a list of seven spots serving brunch:
Fox & Goose Public House

Moms celebrating the annual holiday at Fox & Goose Public House get a free glass of champagne from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, the restaurant wrote in a Sunday Facebook post.
The longtime establishment in the R Street Corridor in midtown serves traditional English-style dishes, from corned beef hash and quiche to eggs Benedict, crumpets and scones with Devonshire cream.
Also available are omelets, waffles, French Toast and pancakes.
The restaurant is not offering reservations for brunch this weekend, but extra tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The restaurant will open for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Sunday.
Crawdads on the River

In search of an all-you-can-eat Mother’s Day Brunch? You’ll find it at Crawdads on the River.
The restaurant, situated along the Sacramento River, is set to make “Mother’s Day truly special” with a buffet stacked with breakfast items, crawdads and desserts.
Buffet prices range from $25 for children to $55 for adults.
Reservations can be made over the phone at 916-929-2268. The Mother’s Day buffet will open from 9:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Poppy by Mama Kim

Poppy by Mama Kim in East Sacramento will morph its cafe into a Mother’s Day destination with a curated food menu and mimosas.
At $55 per person, patrons will be guided along a four-course meal, beginning with yogurt and baked scones. Then, the table will receive avocado toast with “bulls blood” (a rare beet variety) and lobster on brioche toast with lemon chive créme.
Entree options include mushroom frittata with potatoes, eggs Benedict with crab and spinach, duck confit with cherries and petit filet with pancetta.
That will get washed down with gelato or sorbet.
The children’s menu is limited to French toast with fruit or eggs Benedict with potatoes.
The Mother’s Day brunch will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, according to a Friday Facebook post. Reservations can be made over the phone at 916-515-9971.
The Morning Fork

If the person you’re celebrating has a thing for diners, check out The Morning Fork in midtown.
The mom-and-pop diner serves traditional dishes, as well as coffee and cocktails, according to its website. Platters range from $14 to $27 and typically come with bread and you’re choice of potatoes or fruit.
There are 13 waffle plates ($11 to $19), including apple cobbler, pistachio and bacon.
The diner will open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Sunday. Seats are first come, first served.
The Virgin Sturgeon

The Virgin Sturgeon will offer its customers a Mother’s Day brunch along the Sacramento River, no reservations are required.
Dishes range from $13 for biscuits and gravy to $23 for fish and eggs, according to the restaurant’s website. Choose between unique cocktails like the White Gummy Bear with raspberry vodka and the Delta Breeze with coconut rum. Brunch will be served from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Sunday. Seats are typically first-come, first-served.
Tower Café

Tower Café in Upper Land Park is the spot for nature lovers, from its flowing waterfall to its potted flowers.
Brunch items include pancakes, omelets, Thai-style steak and eggs, and a variety of burgers.
The restaurant will open an hour earlier than usual on Mother’s Day. Brunch will be served from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Seats are first-come, first-served.
Bacon and Butter

If you want to introduce mom to a Michelin-recommended experience that won’t break the bank, Bacon and Butter in Tahoe Park is worth a look.
The farm-to-fork restaurant cooks its “dishes from scratch and each plate is made to order,” according to its website.
Plates range from $11 for a bowl of yogurt to $20 for chicken and waffles.
Bacon & Butter will open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Seats are first come, first served.
