Here are 7 Memorial Day events in the metro-east

To honor U.S. military servicemen and women who died, Memorial Day services will be convened in the metro-east on Monday.

Here’s a roundup of events:


Belleville Memorial Day Parade — 10-11 a.m. Monday, May 27. Downtown Belleville. Parade route: Starts on North 3rd Street at A Street, east on Main Street to Mascoutah Avenue to Walnut Hill Cemetery, where the Belleville Memorial Day Ceremony will be conducted at 11 a.m.

Belleville Memorial Day Ceremony — 11 a.m. Monday, May 27. Walnut Hill Cemetery, 1101 Mascoutah Ave., Belleville. Veterans and those who want to remember fallen servicemen and women are requested to attend. Following the Belleville Memorial Day Parade.


Memorial Day Service — 11 a.m. Monday, May 27. American Legion Prairie Du Pont Post 485 at 200 S. Fifth St., Dupo.

Fairview Heights

Flag raising ceremony — 9 a.m. Monday, May 27. The circle in front of Fairview Heights City Hall, 10025 Bunkum Road.


Memorial Day Ceremony — 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 27. VFW Post 805 hosts event at City of O’Fallon Cemetery on North Oak Street.

Memorial Day Ceremony — 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 27. The O’Fallon Veterans Monument, 737 Wesley Drive. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at the First Baptist Church, 1111 East Highway 50, O’Fallon.
