ACC men’s basketball tournament to stay in North Carolina for next five years. Here’s where

The ACC men’s basketball tournament will be played on its North Carolina home soil over the next five seasons in Charlotte and Greensboro.

ACC commissioner Jim Phillips announced Thursday the league’s marquee event will be held at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center in 2025, 2026 and 2028 while the Greensboro Coliseum will house the event in 2027 and 2029.

This season’s ACC men’s tournament will be played next month in Washington, D.C.

In addition to the men’s tournaments staying in North Carolina, Phillips announced the women’s tournament, which is being played at Greensboro Coliseum next month, will return to Greensboro in 2025, while the 2027 event will be played at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte.

The ACC baseball tournament will be played at Charlotte’s Truist Field this May and again in 2026 and 2028. It will be played at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in 2025, 2027 and 2029.

“We are incredibly proud to announce this tremendous package of neutral site championships that will be held in the state of North Carolina, where the league was founded more than 70 years ago,” Phillips said.

The planned events fulfills the ACC’s agreement with the state government, reached last year, that provided $15 million in state funds to the league if it kept its headquarters in North Carolina and played a number of championship events in the state.

To qualify for the money, the ACC needed to hold, within the next 10 years, at least four men’s basketball championships, four women’s basketball championships and four men’s baseball championships in the state in addition to any already scheduled in North Carolina.

In addition to the basketball and baseball tournaments, ACC championships in lacrosse, tennis, swimming and diving, gymnastics, rowing and golf are scheduled to be held in North Carolina at sites in Cary, Raleigh, Greensboro, Wilmington and Charlotte.

The ACC men’s and women’s tennis championships will be played at Cary Tennis Park from 2024-29 while the ACC rowing championships will be in the Triangle and Raleigh’s Lake Wheeler this year, in 2026 and 2027 and in 2029 and 2030. The ACC men’s and women’s soccer tournaments will be held at Cary’s Wake Med Soccer Park for the next six years, beginning this fall.

Greensboro Coliseum will be the home of the ACC’s gymnastics championship this year through 2026. Greensboro’s Aquatic Center will be the site of the league’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving championships this year and in 2025 as well as 2027-29.

ACC men’s and women’s lacrosse tournaments will be played at Charlotte’s Memorial Stadium this year through 2028.
