Aerial Footage Shows Atlanta Suspect Crashing Stolen Vehicle, Then Making Run for It

Police in Atlanta, Georgia, have released dramatic aerial footage showing the moment the driver of a stolen car crashed the vehicle into a Highway Emergency Response Operators (HERO) truck before attempting to make a getaway on foot.

Police said the incident happened on May 29 after officers spotted a stolen Mercedes.

“At around 5:00 pm officers in the area of Lenox Square 3393 Peachtree Rd NE spotted the stolen car in the parking lot,” police said.

“The vehicle was placed under surveillance and several hours later a suspect walked up and drove away in the vehicle. The officers watching the vehicle alerted other officers in the area and a Georgia State Patrol Trooper spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it.

“The suspect fled from the trooper but collided with a stopped HERO vehicle and fled on foot. APD officers in the area caught the suspect who resisted arrest. The suspect was eventually placed in handcuffs and six firearms, including one reported stolen on May 20 in a vehicle break-in, were recovered.”

Police said the suspect, Eric Deshaun Flemister, 26, was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
