After narrowly surviving a brush with Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff in 2021’s WandaVision, Kathryn Hahn’s evil spell-caster Agatha Harkness is getting her very own Marvel show in Agatha All Along.

News of the show’s arrival landed just months after WandaVision ended, thanks, in part, to Agatha’s instant popularity among viewers. The character’s new stand-alone series promises to share many of the same ingredients as its predecessor, including some familiar faces and a darkly comic flavour.

It’ll also form part of Phase Five of Marvel’s ongoing cinematic universe.

What else do we know? Keep scrolling as we open Agatha’s spellbook to find out what she has in store for her debut Disney+ series.

Agatha All Along will arrive on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on Wednesday, 19 September, after being delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Given its supernatural storyline, its arrival in the lead-up to Halloween like a good placement for the series.

The remaining seven episodes will air weekly.

Marvel fans have been waiting a long time for Agatha’s solo adventure. The spin-off was first announced in October 2021, and filming wrapped in May 2023. The show underwent several name changes settling on its final title, which is taken from a song in WandaVision — it started as Agatha: House of Harkness and evolved into Agatha: Coven of Chaos, then Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.

The first trailer for Agatha All Along materialised in early July and found Agatha Harkness stuck in a spell and forced to walk the Witch's Road to get back to her old self.

Elsewhere, we also got our first proper look at the series starry cast in action, with Agatha setting her sights on forming her very own coven.

In addition to Kathryn Hahn returning as Agatha Harkness, the Disney+ show will also feature Parks and Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal, a new villainous character and member of Agatha’s coven.

Heartstopper’s Joe Locke joins the series as a familiar called Billy Kaplan, a character that’ll no doubt be familiar to readers of the Young Avengers comics, with Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu, a decades-old witch who joins covens with Agatha.

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Sasheer Zamata will play Jennifer Kale, a powerful sorceress from the Marvel comics universe, with Ali Ahn and Maria Dizzia also reported to be playing witches.

Former WandaVision stars Debra Jo Rupp, Emma Caulfield Ford, David Payton, David Lengel, Asif Ali, Amos Glick and Brian Brightman will also star, alongside Kate Ford as Agatha’s mum Evanora.

Okwui Okpokwasili is also confirmed to appear in an as-yet-undisclosed role.

In Agatha All Along, we'll find WandaVision's villain stripped of her powers and trapped inside a spell.

However, a mysterious figure appears and shows her how to break free - but it'll involve her surviving a perilous witchy trial.

"In Agatha All Along, the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell," says the show's official synopsis.

"Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…"

So far, that’s all we have to go off. However, it sets things up nicely for a series that’s bound to be full of misdirection and twist surprises.

Agatha All Along will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday 19 September.
