Air Canada jet hits gulls, hawk in Saskatoon
An Air Canada passenger plane landed safely in Saskatoon Wednesday after apparently hitting several birds.
It happened at around 11:43 a.m. CST as an Embraer E190 passenger plane from from Toronto was landing.
The crew reported a bird strike on landing and when it was checked out, the remains of five gulls and a hawk were found.
It's the latest in a series of bird incidents at Saskatchewan airports reported to Transport Canada in recent weeks.
Other incidents include:
- On Aug. 3, dead birds were found on the runway at the Saskatoon airport. That led to short delays for multiple aircraft while the birds were removed.
- On July 31, a Cessna light plane (182S) on a local flight from Saskatoon reported bird remains on the runway after landing. Airport fire truck found the dead birds and removed them.
- On July 31, a WestJet Encore Dehavilland from Calgary reported a possible bird strike when landing at the Regina airport.
