Algonquin Park crash involving tour bus kills 1, injures others

One person is dead and multiple injured after a bus full of tourists viewing the fall colours in Algonquin Park was involved in a crash with a car on Highway 60 Saturday afternoon, according to Renfrew County Paramedics.

Paramedic chief Mike Nolan said one person was transported to hospital via ORNGE air ambulance in critical condition and two people were transported via ambulance in serious but stable condition after the crash around 2:30 p.m.

Ontario Provincial Police later said three people were injured.

The crash happened 11 kilometres from the west entrance of the park near Tea Lake, which is about 300 kilometres from Ottawa, Nolan said.

Highway 60 was shut down at Highway 127, with detours at Highway 35, paramedics said.

Nolan could not immediately say how many people were in the car and how many were on the bus. He said some patients on the bus were assessed on the scene for minor injuries.
