Big Trash Pickup
Big trash pick up is scheduled for Thursday, May 4. Items that will NOT be picked up include: tires, yard waste, batteries, concrete, TVs or electronics. To dispose of these items, call CJDE-Cycling at 618-659-9006 to make an appointment to drop off items for recycling. There may be a charge for TVs.
Little Homesteaders Small Business Fair
Kids run their own vendor stands. Open to children ages 5-17. Have an idea for a small business? Now is the time to put your idea to good use. Any idea, such as selling handmade goods, garden produce, starting seedlings – either vegetable or flowers, networking babysitting, lawn mowing or house washing, etc.
The Small Business Fair will be at the Alhambra Township Park, State Route 140 in the Firemen Legion Building on Saturday, May 13. Contact Ashley at LHbusinessfair@gmail.com.
Center Schools PTO
The final meeting of the PTO for this school year will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, via Zoom. The Perfect Pastries Fundraiser brought in over $5,600. Thank you to all who ordered.
Alhambra Primary
This school year is quickly winding down. The 12th and final mile run for the “Tryathalon” will take place at the Alhambra Park Friday, May 5 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. School will be dismissed at 11:50 a.m.
May 8-12 is Teachers Appreciation week.
First-grade students will be going on their Zoo field trip on May 22. Second- and third-grade classes will enjoy a movie field trip on May 23.
The last day of school for this school year will be Thursday, May 25, with school being dismissed at 11:50 a.m.
Hitz Home Tasting Bee
Hitz Home Annual Tasting Bee will be held Friday, June 2, at 1:00 p.m. in the Hitz Home activity/dining room. Guests are asked to bring a favorite appetizer, dish or dessert. Chicken salad, ham or roast beef sandwiches will be provided. Tickets to the event are $7 each. Raffle prizes include, hand-quilted quilt, afghan. Ten winners will take home $25 gift cards from one of the following businesses: DK’s Market, Rural King, Amazon, Fainting Goat, Scooters, Rulers, Walmart, Maedges, Books-A-Million and Diamond Mineral Springs.
