ATV driver arrested after police chase in Charlottetown

A Cornwall man was arrested by Charlottetown police early Friday morning following an incident involving an all terrain vehicle and a foot chase

Police said they were doing a routine patrol shortly before 3 a.m. on the bypass highway, when they saw a man on an ATV travelling in the opposite direction.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but they say the driver kept going.

They managed to get the ATV stopped on Kensington Road but the driver ran away.

Police said they ran after the man and made an arrest a short time later.

They said the 18 year old Cornwall man has been charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, evading police, and failing to comply with a probation order.

He spent the night in jail and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
