Avril Lavigne shares a video of her ‘Family Guy’ character kicking butt

You can now be Avril Lavigne – in video game form, at least. The 30-year-old Belleville native shared a short video on Instagram in which she’s an animated, Family Guy-style character.

Avril’s avatar is part of the series’ new video game, Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, and the singer is appropriately dressed in a punk-rock princess ensemble. There’s the short black mini skirt with a black T-shirt as well as pink tights, black boots and black gloves. Rounding out the ensemble is a trademark streak of pink through her character’s long blond locks.

Rightfully so, the “Complicated” singer is stoked about her video game appearance: “This is so cool! Here’s a video of my character kickin ass in Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff!”

The game is available as an app at the Google Play store or through iTunes. The premise is simple: Peter Griffin has somehow managed to destroy Quahog, the fictional town where Seth MacFarlane’s cartoon comedy takes place. Players choose one of their favourite Family Guy characters to rebuild the area and tackle a variety of tasks.

In Avril’s case, this includes dyeing her hair, applying Meg’s makeup, rocking out and performing secret shows. She also has the ability to fight Polar Bear Shark, the character showcased in the singer’s Instagram clip.

This is the latest in a slew of news highlights that the star has shared with fans on Instagram since revealing that she’d been away from the spotlight battling Lyme Disease. Avril recently announced that she has taken on the role of Snow White in the upcoming animated film Charming, and posted about her return to the stage on July 25, where she performed her empowering single, “Fly,” to help open the Special Olympics in Los Angeles.
