Axe attack leaves N.S. woman with life-threatening injuries
RCMP say a 52-year-old woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit with an axe several times in a home near Halifax Wednesday night.
The assault occurred at a house on Prospect Bay Road in Prospect, just outside of Halifax, around 9 p.m. AT.
Police arrested two girls 1½ hours later on Mumford Road in Halifax. They remain in custody.
One of the suspects faces a charge of attempted murder.
The victim and the suspects knew each other, police said.
The RCMP General Investigation Section has been called in to help with the case.
