A Vancouver-based technology company is opening a Nova Scotia office that should create at least five jobs, and possibly 100.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. says FCV Technologies Ltd. chose to expand to the province over other areas. The deal with Nova Scotia Business requires FCV to create the equivalent of five full-time jobs in its first year.

It will be eligible for almost $1.3 million in payroll rebates in Nova Scotia if it creates 100 jobs in the province over a five-year period.

The company has been in business since 2005 and its clients have included Nike, WestJet, Best Buy and Mountain Equipment Co-op.

"An FCV office in Halifax officially makes us a coast-to-coast digital technology company able to serve our clients across four time zones," said Johann Starke, FCV's president and CEO.

The company is expected to fill a variety of positions including web developers, web designers, account project managers and digital strategists.

If it creates those 100 jobs, that would mean it had spent more than $16 million in Nova Scotia salaries and the employees would have paid $1.7 million in income taxes, according to the NSBI media release.
