B.C. Premier Christy Clark's 'Seattle Princesses' tweet draws offside calls

B.C. Premier Christy's Clark's jab at the Seattle Sounders football club is drawing heated reaction on Twitter, after she referred to the team as the "Seattle Princesses."

"The Seattle Princesses are putting on quite a performance tonight. So many miraculous recoveries. #VWFC #VANvSEA," tweeted Clark on Saturday during the teams match in Vancouver against the hometown Whitecaps.

Clark has been a season ticket holder with the Vancouver team since she was a talk radio host, but her tweet, which was presumably a reference to some dramatics on the field, did not get much support on social media, with plenty of folks calling her out for the offside language.

"@christyclarkbc I HATE the Sounders, however I also am raising a daughter in this province. #embarrassing," replied Brandon O'Conner.

"@christyclarkbc If you're trying to insult a team by calling them princesses, you're failing badly, esp. as a woman in a position of power," said Nicole.

The first-place Whitecaps lost to the now third-place Sounders 3-0 in the match.
