Barn collapses in Tennessee, trapping horse inside. See the dangerous rescue

A horse was trapped when a barn collapsed on top of him, but Tennessee firefighters came to the rescue.

Dickson County Emergency Management and the fire department responded to a July 16 call that a barn had collapsed, the department said in a Facebook post.

When the crews arrived, they saw a pile of wooden beams and roofing. But, there was a small space within the collapsed structure, officials said.

Inside was Cody, a horse that used to call the barn home.

The crews moved quickly to install stabilization struts and lifters that would hold the pieces of the barn in place, officials said.

Once the structure was secure, they began removing pieces of the barn to create an opening for Cody, they said.

When there was a large enough opening for Cody to slip through, two firefighters led the horse out of the barn and into a field.

Once free, Cody was given an apple for his patience during the rescue, officials said.

Cody was checked for injuries before he was given an apple “for being extremely patient” with the firefighters and emergency crews, the department said.
