The BBC is set to launch a brand new reality series Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience.

The show will follow five boys from the UK who travel to Seoul and are put through the "world-renowned K-pop process" in a big to become a successful K-pop group.

The show, which will air on BBC One and iPlayer this summer, will see the newly formed band go through a schedule of intense choreography, vocal and performance lessons, and life-coaching techniques.

They will also be immersed in " all aspects of Korean life" as the series explores the stratospheric rise of K-pop and the artists at the centre of its success. Each week, the band's progress will be critiqued by K-pop expert Hee Jun Yoon, who has worked with numerous huge acts across the last 20 years.

The six-part series is a collaboration between SM Entertainment and Kakao Entertainment America, with cameras going behind the closed doors of SM Entertainment for the first time.

Moon&Back Media is producing. The production company's co-founder Nigel Hall previously worked on Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor.

Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, said: "This unique acquisition will showcase a sense of exactly what it takes to make it in the world of K-pop. Witnessing the band come together and be put through their paces promises to be a very exciting prospect for audiences."

Hall added in a statement: "Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience combines best in class from both K-pop and global entertainment production worlds.

Daniel Jang, CEO of SM Entertainment, additionally said: "Through this UK boy group project, we anticipate a palpable synergy between SM Entertainment's prowess in K-pop production and Moon&Back Media's expertise in developing music-genre TV shows.

"This collaboration will yield exceptional content that will captivate pop music fans, not only in the UK but worldwide."
