Belleville man left for work on May 27. His family hasn’t seen him since

Police in St. Clair County are trying to locate a Belleville man who has not been seen since May 27.

Nicholas Politte, 33, left home for a part-time job in the Soulard neighborhood in St. Louis and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

A flyer issued by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department describes Politte as being 5-foot, 10-inches tall, about 180 pounds with brown hair and prescription glasses with thick plastic frames. Photos show him wearing a beard at different lengths, one cut tight and another hanging low below his neckline.

Family in Belleville reported Politte works from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. three days per week cleaning for an unspecified employer in Soulard and typically uses MetroLink light rail and buses to get there, said Sheriff’s Department Investigator John Kennedy.

The sheriff’s department flyer wasn’t distributed on social media until June 24, nearly a month after Politte had last been seen.

“This is not the first time he’s done this without contacting the family, but it’s never been this long,” Kennedy said. “That’s why they waited a while to report him missing. Usually it would be seven, eight, nine days that he would be gone before he’d contact somebody.”

Kennedy said Politte has been living with family in Belleville for about a year but has previously lived in St. Louis. He said family were unable to provide more specific details, such as who is his employer in Soulard, or what Metro Transit routes he uses to get to work.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen Politte or know of his whearabouts is asked to contact Kennedy at the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, 618-825-5776.
