Beryl's remnants produce tornadoes across Ohio Valley

MOUNT VERNON, Ind. – The remnants of Hurricane Beryl produced tornadoes and flooding across the Ohio Valley on Tuesday, with several twisters spotted in Indiana.

Video taken from Mount Vernon in southern Indiana showed at least one tornado impacting an industrial area of the town.

The National Weather Service issued a rare Particularly Dangerous Situation Tornado Warning as tornado sightings from the public came flooding in.

Aerial photos by emergency managers taken after the storm show extensive damage to a large facility in town.

Photos also showed a train derailment west of Evansville, but local emergency management did not report any injuries in the immediate aftermath of the storm.

NWS meteorologists in Paducah, Kentucky are sending storm survey teams to the Mount Vernon area and a second area with suspected tornado damage near Uniontown, Kentucky. They expect to give the tornado(es) a rating later Wednesday.

Beryl was a Category 1 hurricane when it crashed ashore along the central Texas coast early Monday morning, pummeling the area with 90 mph wind gusts that brought life-threatening storm surge, widespread damage and knocking out power to 2.7 million people while leaving at least 8 dead.
